Mistakes People Make in Remodels

Renovating your home is a big undertaking, but unfortunately, mistakes are common. Homeowners are as much part of the process as contractors, and it’s important to avoid these mistakes as you begin your remodel.

-Buying cheap materials

Your remodel will not be as good as you want it to be if you start with cheap materials. If you’re going to remodel your kitchen, wait until you can afford to do it right. Otherwise, try some small fixes in the meantime.

-Incorrect measurements

Everything should be quadruple measured when it comes to remodeling, including appliances, fixtures, walls, etc. Ask your contractor to check your measurements every time. If you’re buying something online, try and and measure it in a store if it won’t arrive in time so you can be certain.

-Overpowering a small bathroom

If you have a small bathroom, the fixtures need to be small. If you put full-size fixtures in a tiny bathroom, it will be too crowded.

-Forgetting the lighting

Adding new lighting or improving it will completely change the colors, the feeling, the ambiance. Before you embark on a remodeling project, consider adding new lights first to see if that fixes some problems.
